“Pick of the Week” is a home I’ve recently toured in person which I believe makes for a great buy based on its status as a Great Home Design in a Great Location for a Great Price!
Just look at it. In so many ways the pictures tell it all. It’s a 1915 craftsman that’s been totally remodeled inside and out. It’s got six bedrooms and three full bathrooms and provides over 2100sf of living space. Sweet pluses include a small room for an office in the back, a central family room upstairs, a basement and a 5000sf lot. Clean as a whistle and updated with modern appliances in the kitchen, new floors upstairs and down, new plumbing, new roof, clear pest report… and the list goes on. Let me first say I think this is a great one for a first time buyer, specifically because of all the remodeling. It’s the type of home you most likely won’t be working on every weekend once you take ownership. It looks and feels like a brand new home when you walk through it. But it’s actually a quite spacious and charming craftsman with a huge redwood tree in the backyard and it just brims with the spirit of revitalization. You’ll find this one located in the Fairfax Business District just northwest of 55th Ave and Bancroft. It may be a neighborhood you’ve never heard of, but it’s one that’s well worth a look in this price range for sure. It’s another great example of how demand is pushing into new parts of Oakland which is ultimately changing the face of so many areas such as Temescal and NOBE that were once not quite so famous. Drive around the nearby streets and you’ll see similar-aged homes, mostly craftsmans, with a charming variety of styles and levels of restoration. It’s another Oakland early 20th century neighborhood that’s got tons of potential, and considering its convenient access to Fruitvale BART, the Coliseum station and airport connector, and currently reasonable prices it’s certainly possible to be another one where demand takes it to a new level. Overall, this home just felt good to me. It felt like it could be a great place to live. A surprisingly good opportunity for this one that shouldn’t be missed. Please contact me for a private showing!
