This lovely home built in 1927 is a really interesting pick. Awesome views, period charm, updated kitchen and baths, beautiful outdoor deck and patio spaces to hang out, solar and energy efficiency upgrades, and all just a short drive to great spots in Oakland such as College Ave, Lake Temescal, The Claremont Hotel, Rockridge BART. Lovely location in one of the gems of Oakland living!
Really cool and interesting mid-century design with so much to take in. Waterfalls and walking paths along the grounds, floor to ceiling windows with natural light galore, amazing period details including light fixtures that are works of art by themselves, etc. The art of geometric shapes in line and in light, this one is a different level of design than the typical mid-century and deserves to be considered on its own as a work of art of the 20th century. Really an interesting home, seems worthy of being a character in a movie to me!
I recommend taking a few minutes to click on the pictures in the MLS listing of this one. Really. It’s an amazing architectural design built around a central courtyard and takes wonderful advantage of the bay views of this location. Spacious and modern, it supports 4bd/3.5ba and over 3100sf of living space. A California dream house, for sure!
Wonderful, spacious Tudor-style home built in 1930 in the gorgeous Crocker Highlands neighborhood! Lovely period details, great updating in the kitchen and bathrooms, stylish and sophisticated. Excellent location enables easy access to so much of what’s great in Oakland including walking access to Lakeshore and Glenview. Great one!
What a wonderful Spanish Mediterranean-style home, with all sorts of charming elements of the classic style yet built in 1994. Amazing tile work, exposed beam interior architecture, copper light fixtures, extraordinary attention to details in ornamentation that all seems to blend the ubiquitous craftsman elements found in the area with the wonderful flair of the Mediterranean seaside home. Living spaces covering indoor and outdoors flow back and forth where the home easily and gracefully welcomes the refreshing bay breeze to fill the home. Just an outstanding execution of the concept in a fantastic Rockridge location.
Having looked at dozens of homes in Piedmont Pines, and having been a fan of it for years, I can say one of the reasons it continues to charm and mesmerize me is when I see homes like this one. This Oakland hills neighborhood is a serene oasis on its own, within steps of some of the most amazing urban regional parks one can find anywhere. There are bay views on the west side and valley views on the east side. It’s a nature lover’s paradise, no doubt. With this home you’ll find what appears to be an Eichler in the sky. A very large (over 3400sf) Eichler-esque home with exposed beams and large geometric windows, and an open flow between rooms— but this one is on a hillside with lovely views. Take some time and really check this one out. It’s a mid-century gem of a home that’ll stand the test of time for many decades to come.
Hillcrest Estates is without question one of my favorite neighborhoods in Oakland. Why? Well, let’s start with the minimum lot size of 1 acre. This particular home sits on a 1.63 acre lot with bay views and hosts a wonderful mid-century 5bd/4ba single level home with over 3000sf, Pool? Yep. Gorgeous park-like setting? Yep. Quiet and serene; elegant and homey; welcoming to guests yet oasis-like? All yep. Just a wonderful estate. And considering the median (yes median) in Palo Alto is $1M higher than this home’s list price, it ought to give anyone shopping in this price range pause.
Goodness, wow! In one hundred years this home will represent our current era as “Year Built: 2016.” Incredible views? Of course. Spacious with over 3400sf, 5bd/3ba? Of course. Luxurious appointments including a stunning LED chandelier? Uh huh. It’s got a whole bunch, really. Just take some time to click through and flip through these pics. You’ll see. Wonderful home in the Montclair Hills!
One photo cannot possibly capture how much there is here in this super stylishly updated 1914 home in beautiful Crocker Highlands. All together we’re looking at over 3700sf with 5bd/4.5ba sitting on a 5750sf lot. Take one bedroom and one bath out of that total because, yes, here you have guest quarters (or an in law, or au pair, or studio perhaps). Just click through and check out the photos. It’s an interior designer’s masterpiece. Beauty here!
Show me the sun and the views! This spacious 2002 home will keep the eyes tantalized as you peek through windows on every level or from the numerous decks and verandas. With over 3500sf and 4bd/4.5ba, and oh yeah, a sauna, jacuzzi, solar energy, auto shades, and more, this home will comfort you in sweet luxury. Remind me what this price buys in SF again?
Gorgeous 1954 mid-century family home in the bucolic Piedmont Pines neighborhood. It probably doesn’t get mentioned enough how the weather in Oakland is pretty close to a perfect ambient temperature and sunny around 70% of the time. Keep that in mind when looking at this lovely 4bd/2.5ba home sitting on a quarter acre in the Oakland hills near to some of the best regional parks possibly anywhere. Just sayin..
A single photo cannot possibly fully represent this custom home designed by architect Robert Weaver Steven located in the hills behind the famed Claremont Hotel on the Berkeley/Oakland border. Constructed in 1994, this 3bd/4ba home of over 3500sf is truly art in habitation. The individual rooms as divisions of a circle revolve around central axes and preserve the angles natural to such a design rather than attempting to fit convention into its floor plan. It’s open and light-filled, and the views encompass a broad span including the bay and the SF skyline, views which are stunning complements to numerous rooms. Extraordinary in virtually every way, you have an opportunity to tour it this Sat & Sun. Don’t miss it!
In this beautiful setting on the Piedmont side of Montclair we find this spacious 3bd/3ba, over 2900sf home on a nearly quarter acre lot. And for me, the era of the mid-century modern design is a brilliant departure from the ornamentation of the earlier periods to the sleek and geometric lines of modernity this era demanded in 1954. Tremendous design and build quality in a lovely setting!
Without equivocation, this is the premier Rockridge location in Oakland and this home, while it appears to be an early 20th century craftsman is actually a 2009 home exquisitely designed and built in that style— with some modern touches. Just flip through the pictures yourself when you click through. It’s just stunning, inside and out, and the location is an easy walk to all the fabulousness of the College Avenue corridor. Open to tour the next two Sundays.
Oh yes, such a choice home in Crocker Highlands here. I mean it’s got it all: 4bd/3ba, almost 2500sf, 6100sf lot, views and more views, luscious yard, wonderful hills location in one of the premier neighborhoods of Oakland and exquisitely remodeled while preserving the 1924 period details. Will be open to tour the next couple of Sundays. Gotta get there and check it out!
So, these are not paintings on the wall of this living room. This is the view from this living room— and oh, by the way, the views from this home also include a wide panorama including both the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate, skylines of San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, the bay, etc. And the home is over 4700sf with amazing indoor and outdoor spaces, a home theatre, and 4bd/3.5ba. It’s the Starship that seems to float with the clouds overlooking the scene from its perch on Broadway Terrace. It’s been on the market since late January, guys. Come on Warriors superstar Andrew Bogut, even the news has reported you’re shopping! Happy to help you purchase this one!
Kinda hard to select a picture that really captures this one from those provided in the listing, must say. But this home is a hillside cruise ship with over 3400sf, 5bd/5.5ba that was built in 2008 on a lot with views people travel from all over the world to see— and it’s been on the market since the beginning of January. Listed at what certainly seems like a reasonable price for our market, and located in one of the loveliest spots in Oakland with easy access to Berkeley and Contra Costa County as well, these folks just today published a small price reduction. Spacious and beautiful home with spectacular views here. Gotta check it out!
Why do I love the Piedmont Pines neighborhood so much? Because in those beautiful hills of Oakland you find this! A 4bd/3ba over 2900sf oasis on a nearly quarter acre lot that while it looks like it may have come right out of the 1920s is actually built in 1994. Check out the gorgeous grounds. Check out the spacious entertaining areas. Check out the detached garage converted into a studio. Indoors and outdoors it’s a gem, and located near some of the bay area’s most beautiful parklands in the Oakland hills. Wonderful. Click pic for MLS Listing.
If homes could talk you have to wonder what they’d say. Perhaps this one’s story would begin “I was just a mere lad when Calvin Coolidge was president…” Indeed, that is who was president when this home was built in 1926. And over the years this home has no doubt seen so much as the city of Oakland has evolved. This beautiful Tudor-style 4bd/2.5ba home is yet another example of the gracious life offered in Crocker Highlands. Classic, updated, gorgeous. Yes, yes, yes. Click pic for MLS Listing.
What an enchanting place to call home! This 1945 Spanish style home sits on nearly an acre with beautiful landscaping including water features, a pool, and park-like walking paths. The spacious home includes a 1bd/1ba in-law suite and a more than ample footprint for the family with its 5 bedrooms and 5 baths. Serene and peaceful settings like this can be hundreds of thousands higher in price. With a little updating you’ll take this home into its next wonderful chapter in life. Click pic for MLS Listing.
Views, views, views in this wonderful multi-level home built in 1999 in the Montclair hills. With contemporary styling and postcard views out of practically every room on every level, this home just looks like a party! Family holiday events, Super Bowl parties, birthdays, and celebrations of all kinds long to be hosted here. Indoors has plenty of room for everybody in this over 2800sf home with three bedrooms and two and a half baths. The kitchen alone, with its inclusion of the family room in its design, is a charmer all by itself. But there is so much more to this home. Definitely worth a look!
You really have to take some time to get a full grasp of this beautiful home and its nearly 1.5 acre grounds. Built in 2008, this Mediterranean style home evokes a country estate, but in this case the city is practically at your doorstep. A spacious 3300sf floor plan, the home begs to entertain both indoors and outdoors. With its lovely patios and decks, and inviting ingress/egress passageways to the living areas, your guests you alike will enjoy a stroll through the grounds as though you’re all at a bed and breakfast in the wine country! Definitely one to check out!
Very special and stunning 1907 classic with 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, and 2 half baths and over 2800sf of living space that’s easily walkable to the bustling shops and restaurants of Piedmont Avenue. While nicely updated, this home is an amazing treasure trove of period details with oodles of charm to spare! Originally listed on 7/15, price reduction on 9/9, very interesting opportunity.
Way more than meets the eye upon a casual glance, this home is an amazing amalgamation of the classic and the artistic with charm and COOL! Spacious 1908 craftsman with great updates and period details is accompanied by a sanctuary back garden with spa and an Airstream trailer incorporated! Legal 1-bedroom apartment, too! Excellent and creative, very nice pick!
